The Catacombs of Kom El Shuqafa is an extensive collection of remarkably decorated tombs dating back to the Roman Period which was made between the 2nd century and the 4th century AD and it's regarded as one of the Wonders of the Middle Ages. It was believed that the enchanting tombs of the site belong to a prominent Roman family that used them for burials. The artworks of the Catacombs have a captivating mixture of Hellenistic and ancient Egyptian styles that convey a lot of meaning.
The Pompey's Pillar is a Roman triumphal column located in Alexandria between 298–302 AD; it was created to honor Augustus Diocletian and is found on the east side of the Serapeum of Alexandria. It's the largest memorial column in Egypt, made from red granite and it towers around 28 meters tall.
The Citadel of Qaitbey is considered a safe guardian of the Mediterranean Sea which Sultan Qaitbey had planned and established between 1477 AD to 1479 AD to be the defensive line of Alexandria against the attacks of the Ottomans. Qaitbey had chosen the location of the citadel to be in the same place as the Legendary Lighthouse of Alexandria which had been damaged in the 14th century by earthquakes.
Enjoy a delicious lunch meal at a wonderful fish restaurant then move to visit:
The Library of Alexandria is the finest example of modern 21st-century achievements which was inaugurated in 2002.
