The Colossi of Memnon are two Colossal sculptures made of quartzite sandstone that were carved in Cairo and then transported to Luxor, sitting at the entrance of the mortuary temple of King Amenhotep III (1391–1353 BC). The colossi have a height of 18 m (60 ft) which was rebuilt and enlarged countless times, especially during the Hellenistic period.
