The Complex also has the Great Sphinx which is a huge statue with a lion's body and a human head, and many temples and tombs. The pyramids were made between 2580 and 2500 BC and one Pyramid of the oldest and only remaining of the Seven Wonders of the World.
The oldest and biggest of the Egyptian pyramids and one of the most impressive structures of the ancient world is the Great Pyramid of Giza. The Pyramid was made as a burial place for the king Khufu of the 4th Dynasty, around 2600 BC, and took over two decades to be built. The Great Pyramid consists of more than 2 million blocks of stone, and it is the only surviving wonder of the ancient world.
A huge statue made of stone, the Great Sphinx of Giza has the body of a lion and the head of a human. The Great Sphinx is one of the world's most ancient and impressive monuments that was built by King Khafre around 2500 BC who also constructed the second pyramid at Giza. The Great Sphinx served as a guard of the Pyramids, and it might have been decorated with bright colors in the past.
The Valley Temple is a magnificent archaeological site that was built during the Old Kingdom period around 2500 BC. This temple served as a crucial part of the funeral complex for pharaohs of the Fourth Dynasty, including Khafre. The Valley Temple stands as a testament to ancient Egyptian craftsmanship and provides invaluable insights into the religious and mortuary practices of the time.
Lunch will be served at a Pyramid/ Nile view before continuing the visit:
The Red Pyramid was constructed during the reign of Pharaoh Sneferu, around 2590 BC. The pyramid's precise engineering and innovative design marked a pivotal moment in the evolution of pyramid construction, serving as a prototype for subsequent pyramids, including the Great Pyramid of Giza.
The Bent Pyramid was built during the Old Kingdom around 2600 BC, it is one of the earliest examples of a true pyramid. What makes the Bent Pyramid unique is its distinctive shape with a change in slope halfway up, giving it a bent appearance.
