The Valley Temple goes back to the Fourth Dynasty around 2580–2560 BCE. The Valley was built during the rule of Pharaoh Khafre, and goddesses such as Isis and Hathor were important in funerary customs in the safeguarding of the descend. The Valley Temple was an important place for funerary rituals and offerings for the descend pharaohs, and queens have joined in or been depicted in these ceremonies.
