Women in Egypt enjoyed a high degree of social and legal equality with men and could own property, wealth, divorce, and even rule as pharaohs. It is a chance to witness one of the oldest and most magnificent wonders of the world.

The Great Sphinx

The Great Sphinx represents the ancient Egyptian civilization and culture. It is interesting to explore the different interpretations and stories that surround the Sphinx which are related to gender. scholars suggested that the Sphinx symbolizes the fusion of masculine and feminine qualities, as it combines the body of a lion with the head of a human.

The Valley Temple

The Valley Temple was built by King Khafre who was the son of King Khufu and the builder of the second-largest pyramid. The Valley Temple was used for the purification and mummification of the body of the queen before its burial in the pyramid. The Pyramid of Khentkaus I

The Pyramid of Khentkaus I is a two-stepped tomb that was built for Queen Mother Khentkaus I who may have been the daughter of King “Menkaure” and the wife of King “Userkaf”. The tomb was known as the fourth pyramid of Giza, and it was constructed in two phases, it had a temple, a statuary room, a hall, a burial chamber, and a boat pit.

The Pyramid of Queen Merities

The Pyramid of Queen Merities is attributed to Meritites I who was the wife of King Khufu and the mother of King “Djedefre”. The pyramid had a base of about 46 meters and a height of about 29 meters, a burial chamber that was lined with limestone blocks, and a small mortuary temple that was decorated with reliefs. The Pyramid of the Queen was built around the 15th year of the reign of Khufu, and it shows the influence of the goddess Hathor who was associated with music, and love.

The Egyptian Museum

The Egyptian Museum was founded in the 19th century by the French Egyptologist Auguste Mariette. This unique Museum has the largest collection of Pharaonic antiquities in the world as it includes over 120,000 items. You can also see the reliefs of the goddess Mut who was the wife of Amun who was worshipped at Luxor Temple. The Valley of the Kings was the burial site of all the pharaohs of the 18th, 19th, and 20th dynasties from 1539 to 1075 BCE. The valley also contains the tombs of influential queens such as Nefertari, and Nefertiti who were well-known for their beauty, and power.

Hatshepsut Temple

Hatshepsut Temple was built by the female pharaoh Hatshepsut of the 18th Dynasty of Egypt between 1479 and 1458 BC. The temple has three terraces that are connected by ramps and contains statues, and reliefs that depict the divine birth of the Queen, coronation, beliefs, and expedition to the Land of Punt. The temple was designed to honor the gods Amun Hathor, and Anubis.

The Valley of the Queens

The Valley of the Queens is the place where the wives of pharaohs were buried in ancient times. This site was known then as Ta-Set-Neferu which means “the place of beauty”. The valley contains over 90 tombs from the 18th to the 20th dynasties (1539 to 1075 BC). The most famous tomb belongs to “Nefertari” the beloved wife of Ramses II which is considered a masterpiece of ancient art.

The Colossi of Memnon

The Colossi of Memnon are two statues of the pharaoh Amenhotep III who ruled Egypt in the 14th century BC. The statues are made of quartzite sandstone and stand about 18 meters tall, and they were named after Memnon who was a mythical king of Ethiopia by the ancient Greeks and Romans who believed that one of the statues produced a sound at dawn.

You will be transferred now to Luxor Airport to catch your flight to Cairo. Then, we will take you by a modern vehicle to our hotel in Cairo for an overnight stay.
