Giza Pyramids Complex
The Pyramids of Giza are a prime example of the ancient Egyptian pharaohs' belief in ascending to godhood after death. Built around 4,500 years ago, these monumental structures were constructed as sacred tombs, filled with everything the pharaohs would need to rule and live in the afterlife. The pyramids at Giza stand as a testament to the ingenuity and spiritual devotion of ancient Egyptian civilization.
The Great Pyramid of Giza
Pharaoh Khufu began this monumental project around 2550 BC, creating the first and largest pyramid at Giza, and it used to stand at 481 feet high on the plateau, but it has lost some height since its smooth outer stones have disappeared. The Great Pyramid is estimated to be made of 2.3 million stone blocks that weigh between 2.5 and 15 tons on average.
The Great Sphinx
The purpose of the Great Sphinx of Giza is still shrouded in mystery despite being one of the most amazing monuments of Ancient Egypt. The majority of experts believe that it was constructed around 2500 BC within the burial site of Khafre to protect his Pyramid and that the sphinx's face is thus a portrait of the 4th dynasty King.
The Valley Temple
The son of King Khufu, “the mighty King Khafre,” built the Valley temple of Khafre in ancient Egypt (2686 – 2134 BC) for the mummification process. The temple remained intact under the Giza desert sands until the 19th century, when it was uncovered.

The oldest structure of the complex is the Temple of Isis, built during the reign of Nectanebo I (380–362 BC), founder of the 30th Dynasty around the 4th century BC. The complex was expanded by many Greek, Roman, and Byzantine rulers.
