The history of Egypt is very ancient and vast tracing back to more than 5000 years where the Easter holiday played a very important role. The word Easter is Pascha in Greek and known as resurrection Sunday. It is one of the most important religious events in Egypt and the world as it celebrated the resurrection of Jesus as seen in the New Testament. The day of the festival is known as the culmination of the passion of Jesus which is preceded by 40 days of fasting, prayer, and penance known as “Lent” similar to the holy month of Ramadan. The day of celebration is based on the Julian calendar mostly like many western countries Easter is celebrated by both Christians and Muslims in Egypt with very amazing customs like painting and hunting eggs with the Easter bunny plus a number of parades and festivals where everyone will enjoy delicious food, drinks, and the chance to make some joyful & everlasting memories.
