This ancient site, located in Giza, includes the Great Pyramid of Giza, the Pyramid of Khafre, and the Pyramid of Menkaure, as well as the Great Sphinx, the Valley Temple, and other pyramids and tombs. Giza Pyramids Complex is home to the Sound and Light show, which takes place in the evening and is a truly magical experience.
The Great Pyramid of Giza is the oldest and largest of the three pyramids in the Giza pyramid complex, dating back over 4,500 years. The Pyramid of Khufu, constructed of almost 2 million limestone pieces, was created as a tomb for Pharaoh Khufu. There are theories and mysteries regarding the pyramid's construction, including how the gigantic pieces were carried and positioned.
The Great Sphinx is said to have been constructed during the reign of Pharaoh Khafre (2558 – 2532 BC). This massive statue is nearly 66 feet tall and 240 feet long, carved from a single block of limestone. According to some historians, it was made to guard the pharaoh's tomb or to represent the pharaoh's power and strength over both humans and animals.
The Valley Temple is an ancient temple built during the reign of Pharaoh Khafre, who ruled during the Fourth Dynasty of the Old Kingdom period around 2500 BC. Before being brought to the pyramid for burial, the Pharaoh's body was mummified at the Valley temple.
The Grand Egyptian Museum, also known as the Giza Museum, is one of the largest archaeological museums in the world. The Grand Egyptian Museum (GEM) covers an area of over 480,000 square meters and houses over 100,000 artifacts, including many that have never been displayed in a museum before including the complete collection of King Tutankhamun's burial artifacts, including his golden mask, chariots, and the treasures of Pharaoh Khufu's mother, Queen Hetepheres.
