The incredible pyramid of Hawara was constructed during the 12th dynasty for the pharaoh Amenemhet III who ruled from 1842 BC to 1797 BC. It is located about 9 km on the eastern side of the Faiyoum oasis and it is called the black pyramid. It is about 58 meters (190 feet) tall and was constructed using limestone blocks, and the interior chambers were lined with pink granite. It is surrounded by a large complex of buildings and structures, including a temple, a causeway, and a large courtyard. The temple was dedicated to the Pharaoh and various gods and was used for religious ceremonies and offerings.

It was used during the Middle Kingdom of Egypt (2050-1650 BC) and contains more than 39 tombs inside including the tombs of Amenemhat & Khnumhotep, which are both accessible to visit. The tombs are decorated with vivid wall paintings and reliefs that depict scenes of daily life, including hunting, fishing, farming, and religious rituals.

The Colossi of Memnon are two twin stone statues that represent pharaoh Amenhotep III (1391–1353 BC). Each statue stands over 18 meters tall and weighs approximately 720 tons. They are made from blocks of quartzite stone, constructed in 1350 BC that was quarried from the nearby Gebel el-Silsila mountains. The statues depict Amenhotep III seated on his throne, with his hands resting on his knees and his gaze facing east towards the Nile River. The statues were rebuilt many times, especially during the Greco-Roman period were many travelers were enchanted by its vocal phenomenon.
